Xing Zhong Li

PhD


Xing Zhong Li (PhD(eq.), Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, 1962; PhD, University of
Wisconsin (Madison), 1983) is a professor in the department of Physics at the Tsinghua
University. In addition, he serves as a member of the Fusion Research Advisory Committee of
China, and the head of the Fusion Physics Laboratory at Tsinghua University. His current
research interests are fusion physics and industrial plasma engineering.

Research Interests

Engaged in the studies of Plasma Physics and Controlled Nuclear Fusion since 1959. The current research interests are :

1. Experiments in Condensed Matter Nuclear Science

  • Gas-loading technique for loading hydrogen (deuterium) into palladium
  • Anomalous excess heat correlated with deuterium flux permeating palladium film
  • Anomalous nuclear reactions correlated with deuterium flux permeating palladium film

2. Theory in Condensed Matter Nuclear Science

  • Multiple scattering theory and deuterium flux permeating pd film.
  • Selective resonant tunneling theory

3. Industrial Plasma Engineering

  • One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP)
  • Controlled thermonuclear fusion
  • Calculation of cross-section of the light nuclei fusion reaction
  • Astrophysics factor of the light nuclei fusion reaction

Awards

Independently proposed the concept of "Asymmetric-cell Multiple-mirror" in 1970's, and won

  • Award set by the National Congress of Science (1978)
  • Award for an Important Achievement set by the Committee of the National Science (1980)
